Peru's Alonso Berganza managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by 温浩康 in the 3 minute of the game. In the 13th minute, Nathaniel Burnett left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Imbituba - FSCMZ fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. The audience was convinced that Nathaniel Burnett's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rolando Noboa was relentless in the 17th minute of the game. 20 minutes into the match, Peru's Julian Murillo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sidney Motta narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Julian Murillo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 28th minute, Imbituba - FSCMZ's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Eliseo Mina fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. In the 32nd minute, Nathaniel Burnett got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 37 minutes into the match, Imbituba - FSCMZ's goal looked a bit too open when Luz Tejedor came free, but Sidney Motta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alonso Berganza kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Julian Murillo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 55 minutes into the match, Milagros Fraga notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Imbituba - FSCMZ's Sidney Motta. Sidney Motta was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Sidney Motta showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. With a little luck, Peru's Rolando Noboa got control of the ball when Nathaniel Burnett tried to sneak it across the goal line. Nathaniel Burnett's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rolando Noboa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 64th minute of play. In the 67th minute of the match Imbituba - FSCMZ got a corner. Peru's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Pedro Luís Fonseca ran over to the corner to take the kick. 72 minutes into the match, Peru's Julian Murillo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sidney Motta narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Sidney Motta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luz Tejedor, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sidney Motta showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luz Tejedor, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luz Tejedor in the 78th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sidney Motta prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Greg Drysdale sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Peru made a substitution. Antonio Tenorio replaced Luz Tejedor. Peru's Eliseo Alcocer was substituted for Moises Gayoso. Anthony Alvarado hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. In the 86th minute of the match Pedro Luís Fonseca sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Rolando Noboa skillfully saved the ball. Sidney Motta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rafael Gallo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rafael Gallo in the 89th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sidney Motta saved Imbituba - FSCMZ from getting behind. If Eliseo Mina had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Imbituba - FSCMZ defense, Antonio Tenorio kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sidney Motta. The Imbituba - FSCMZ fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sidney Motta should have stopped the shot. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Peru fully deserved thier win.
