Through an outstanding action, after 18 minutes, Julio Vera successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 21 minutes had been played when some careless play by Club Deportivo Polonia's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Daniel Zorita almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Club Deportivo Polonia's Angelino Barba did a great save. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Daniel Zorita in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Angelino Barba prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Belarmino Viejo in the 24th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Belarmino Viejo in the 28th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 43rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Club Deportivo Polonia's goalkeeper Angelino Barba, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 46 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Aquilino Velazquez came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 89th minute, Loramendi Zabalo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 95 minutes, Loramendi Zabalo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Club Deportivo Polonia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Loramendi Zabalo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 96th minute, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Angelino Barba. Angelino Barba yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. The Club Deportivo Polonia fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
