The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 3 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Patricio Costa. In the 5th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Patricio Costa to maneuver through the defense. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hermano lago in the 11th minute of the match. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Tomas Illescas hit a great ball. Danilo Caires hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Tomas Illescas might have been able to make a better finish in the 24th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hélio Neto. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tomas Illescas ran back to his position shaking his head. After 27 minutes of play, Paço Futebol Clube's Angélico Miranda made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jonathan Ferrant was left in no man's land by his defense there! Tomas Illescas who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 32ndth minute tested the skills of Hélio Neto when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Tomas Illescas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 37th minute of the match, but Hélio Neto made a huge save. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Hermano lago to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute, Patricio Costa made a precise shot to the right of Hélio Neto. Paço Futebol Clube's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. In the 59th minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hélio Neto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee ignored Paço Futebol Clube's protests and gave Gualter Lobato a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Paço Futebol Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gualter Lobato didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tarcísio Guterres hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. Venezuela's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
