Emanuel Jacob showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on Ecuador's corner Daniel Zorita fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Emanuel Jacob quite easily take care of the ball. Cristian Sancho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Leovigildo Abumohor kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. Emanuel Jacob showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 19th minute of the match. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Emanuel Jacob tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Emanuel Jacob didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Daniel Zorita went, in the 24th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Luis Andino hit a great ball. In the 31st minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. Bresikas's Emanuel Jacob played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 34th minute of play. In the 35th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emanuel Jacob saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Karl-Åke Stolpe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristian Sancho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Emanuel Jacob breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Bresikas's Rodrigo Anaya got a free kick in the 40th minute. After 42 played minutes Bresikas got a freekick which was hit by Nestor Enekoitz. Karl-Åke Stolpe kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Leovigildo Abumohor to make the kick off. Luis Andino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 50th minute. Emanuel Jacob tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Luis Andino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Nestor Enekoitz charged in rather forcefully in the 57th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nestor Enekoitz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 59 minutes into the game, Daniel Zorita lined in a short shot 1-2 behind a frustrated Emanuel Jacob. After some fancy dribbling in the 62nd minute, Ulises Benet managed to get in a good position for a shot. Bresikas's supporters rose to their feet, but Ulises Benet was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 64th minute of the match Bresikas got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Paulino Bero ran over to the corner to take the kick. Agustín Saelices might have been able to make a better finish in the 69th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Emanuel Jacob. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Agustín Saelices ran back to his position shaking his head. Bresikas's defense didn't have a chance, in the 71st minute, when Daniel Zorita scored to the left of an out of position Emanuel Jacob, making the score, 1-3. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd rose to their feet as Cristian Sancho kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Emanuel Jacob. That made the score 1-4 in the 76 minute of play. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Daniel Zorita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Emanuel Jacob read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 80th minute of play. Leovigildo Abumohor might have been able to make a better finish in the 87th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Leovigildo Abumohor ran back to his position shaking his head. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Bresikas's Nestor Enekoitz got a free kick in the 91st minute.
