A nice corner shot did that Daniel Zorita got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Emerson Leão quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emerson Leão having to interfere. The supporters of Ecuador booed when São Paulo Leste F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ernani de Senna didn't get a good kick on the ball. Emerson Leão made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 17th minute of play. Edvard Gråbergs short, quick shot in the 20thth minute got Julio Vera to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 23rd minute, Luis Andino ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Emerson Leão was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Emerson Leão took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 27th minute of the match Leendert Looze shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Julio Vera showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. But to his dismay, Daniel Zorita quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Emerson Leão showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 38th minute of the match. After having played for 40 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 46 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Gao Kun Mo came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

With a little luck, São Paulo Leste F.C.'s Emerson Leão got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. 75 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Edvard Gråberg came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Emerson Leão in the 76th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 77th minute of the match, but Emerson Leão made a huge save. An unexpected shot in the 78th minute by Cristian Sancho got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 81stth minute of the game Edvard Gråberg who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gao Kun Mo in the 84th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 85th minute São Paulo Leste F.C. were awarded a corner. Stanislaw Turacki went to the cornerflag to take it. 89 minutes into the game, Edvard Gråberg was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. São Paulo Leste F.C.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. After 91 played minutes São Paulo Leste F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Paulo Renato Vidal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Edvard Gråberg in the 93rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 95th match minute, São Paulo Leste F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gao Kun Mo to maneuver through the defense.
