The supporters of Mexico booed when DirectorVisual.com was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Héctor Martínez didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 20th minute of the match Joel Gaona sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mauro Iruinea skillfully saved the ball. A nice corner shot did that Luca Zorita got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Mauro Iruinea quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 23rd minute Mexico were awarded a corner. Joel Gaona went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Joel Gaona almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but DirectorVisual.com's Mauro Iruinea did a great save. If Luca Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Mexico fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dante Lacasa should have stopped the shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Joel Gaona made the kick off in the second half. Mauro Iruinea made a fantastic save in the 52nd minute, when Lautaro Mancebo sent off a good shot on target. Leopoldo Luque fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dante Lacasa having to interfere. 76 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Leopoldo Luque came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
