But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pedro Indiano couldn't finish the play. Dong Jian Yang's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Thiago Pliego read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 41st minute of play. Mariano Lacasa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Wieslaw Panasewicz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mariano Lacasa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Mariano Lacasa made the kick off in the second half. Mariano Lacasa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 63rd minute of the match, but Wieslaw Panasewicz made a huge save. Mariano Lacasa in the 71stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Thiago Pliego showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Endre Szentes, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. Bernardino Quintin's late challenge caught a Chile's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bernardino Quintin helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Chile booed when Gimnasia y tiro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bernardino Quintin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Wieslaw Panasewicz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Guillermo Fontirroig went, in the 94th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score.
