With an extended leg and a bit of luck Kevin Mier prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Petri Romuroso in the 15th minute of play. Rolando Noboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rian Giggs in the 16th minute of the match. In the 18th minute of the match Sabaneta FC got a corner. Peru's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Osmundo Bolde ran over to the corner to take the kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 19th minute of play forced Sabaneta FC's goalkeeper Kevin Mier to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Peru booed when Sabaneta FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Petri Romuroso didn't get a good kick on the ball. 23 minutes into the match, Peru's Julian Murillo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kevin Mier narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 25th minute Rian Giggs shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Noboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Julian Murillo made a kick off. Kevin Mier made a fantastic save in the 52nd minute, when Julian Murillo sent off a good shot on target. Bonifaco Corrillos made in the 54th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Firman Urquizu however managed to control. In the 57th minute Sabaneta FC were awarded a corner. Osmundo Bolde went to the cornerflag to take it. Osmundo Bolde made a great header on Sabaneta FC's corner, it was just that Peru's Rolando Noboa managed to reach the ball for a save. 65 minutes in the game Bonifaco Corrillos did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Yoel Magarinos. Kevin Mier made a fantastic save in the 67th minute, when Eliseo Mina sent off a good shot on target. Rolando Noboa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cássio Correia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Julian Murillo in the 72nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Kevin Mier saved Sabaneta FC from getting behind. Kevin Mier made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 78th minute of play. Peru's Eliseo Alcocer was substituted for Moises Gayoso. Peru made a substitution. Rafael Gallo replaced Julian Murillo. Sabaneta FC's Antonio Masciarelli was substituted for Stanislaw Cempa. Kevin Mier made an important save on a dangerous shot by Milagros Fraga in the 85th minute. The referee felt a red card was in order, 94 minutes into the game, when Fabian Lawrence put in a rough tackle. 94 minutes into the game, one of Sabaneta FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. 96 minutes into the match, Eliseo Mina had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Kevin Mier. Sabaneta FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Eliseo Mina was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Peru's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
