After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ruperto Quintan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Cristian Sancho struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Ruperto Quintan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. In the 32nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Agustín Saelices hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cleiton Brasil in the 35th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. Alfredo Olentzaro hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. After 40 minutes of play, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ruperto Quintan was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 46th minute of play forced Cieneguita AFC's goalkeeper Ruperto Quintan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 47th minute, Humberto Gomesano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 81 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Felix Montes. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Humberto Gomesano managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cieneguita AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Humberto Gomesano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a little luck, Cieneguita AFC's Ruperto Quintan got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line.
