Spectators: 45 (Terracing: 35, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Humphrey Virgin got the match started through his kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Sancho got free with Ernest Paddle in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 23rd minute of the match, but Ernest Paddle made a huge save. Humphrey Virgin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Ernest Paddle made a fantastic save in the 26th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Humphrey Virgin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 29 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Crusaders's Ernest Paddle. Ernest Paddle was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 33 minutes into the match, Crusaders's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Ernest Paddle reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ernest Paddle showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Ernest Paddle in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ernest Paddle made a fantastic save in the 39th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Crusaders's Todd Morrison got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 44 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Luis Andino nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ernest Paddle made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Daniel Zorita made the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Ernest Paddle showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 54th minute of the match. In the 56th minute Todd Morrison shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Felix Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Crusaders's Ernest Paddle played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 61st minute of play. 62 minutes into the match, Crusaders's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Ernest Paddle reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 65th minute, Luis Andino ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ernest Paddle was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. Crusaders's Nath Hislop was substituted for Todd Morrison. With an all-out effort, Crusaders's Julio Vera threw himself towards the right post 74 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Humphrey Virgin, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. If Humphrey Virgin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Ernest Paddle tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Stavros Keratomenos hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. In the 86th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ernest Paddle saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Eustacio Astrada recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Crusaders was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roy Keane didn't get a good kick on the ball.
