But to his dismay, Cristian Sancho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 17 minutes into the match, Las Momias F. C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Felix Montenegro came free, but Carlo Amadei reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Carlo Amadei showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 27th minute of the match. 31 minutes into the match, Las Momias F. C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Carlo Amadei reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlo Amadei having to interfere. Hipolito Jerico could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 36th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. If Agustín Saelices had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Felix Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rogelio Fernado made a kick off. In the 54th minute Hipolito Jerico shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristian Sancho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Carlo Amadei breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
