Leif Browall came out and tried to block the shot, but Alfredo Ferrant slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 5th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Eduardo Fontirroig got free with Leif Browall in the 8th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 11th match minute, Bolivia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Julio Chicote to maneuver through the defense. 15 minutes into the game, one of FK Crvena Zvezda:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 18th minute there was a penalty for Bolivia. Mario Fernandino stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Leif Browall. 2-0. The audience was convinced that Stig-Arne Duset's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Camilo Freixa was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. If Eduardo Fontirroig had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Leif Browall came out of the goal in the 30th minute to try and stop a shot by Bolivia's Alfredo Ferrant. But to his dismay, Alfredo Ferrant quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Leif Browall made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Mario Fernandino sent off a good shot on target. Isak Hjälm kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. Bolivia's Alfonso de la Cruz got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in FK Crvena Zvezda's zone, Eduardo Fontirroig stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Leif Browall came out of the goal and Eduardo Fontirroig tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

Camilo Freixa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Malcolm Göransson in the 53rd minute. Leif Browall showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mario Fernandino, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when FK Crvena Zvezda's Stig-Arne Duset in the 57th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Camilo Freixa was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Bolivia through an amazing save. If Alfredo Ferrant had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mario Fernandino might have been able to make a better finish in the 64th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Leif Browall. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mario Fernandino ran back to his position shaking his head. Camilo Freixa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Stig-Arne Duset in the 70th minute of the match. A collision led to FK Crvena Zvezda getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stig-Arne Duset in the 82nd minute of play forced Bolivia's goalkeeper Camilo Freixa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With an all-out effort, FK Crvena Zvezda's Camilo Freixa threw himself towards the right post 98 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Stig-Arne Duset, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Bolivia's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
