Venezuela's Jonathan Venegas managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Dennis Bartl in the 12 minute of the game. Tomas Illescas who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 13thth minute tested the skills of Mario Grebe when he managed to save the team from getting behind. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Rigoberto Mina hit a great ball. Mario Grebe was out of position in the 18 minute of play, and Patricio Costa capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Patricio Costa really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. In the 30th minute, Marcel Hennemann hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Patricio Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Mario Grebe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tomas Illescas struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Mario Grebe didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Venezuela. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tim-Oliver Mayrhofer in the 37th minute of the match. When Venezuela's Patricio Costa in the 38th minute got a chance for a shot 38th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye International Thunders's goalie prevented a goal. The supporters of Venezuela booed when International Thunders was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dennis Bartl didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Benjamin Eckstein had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Patricio Costa hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tim-Oliver Mayrhofer to strike the kick off in the second half. Patricio Costa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mario Grebe read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 51st minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tim-Oliver Mayrhofer got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Camilo Gaos hit a great ball. In the 69th minute, Guillermo Mariano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dennis Bartl charged in rather forcefully in the 73rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dennis Bartl the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 73rd match minute, International Thunders was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dennis Bartl to maneuver through the defense. In the 74th minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mario Grebe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 86 minutes into the match, Patricio Costa had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mario Grebe. International Thunders's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Patricio Costa was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Benjamin Eckstein, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. International Thunders's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
