In the 3rd minute the ball was on its way in behind JM Don Vidales 62's goalkeeper Javier Solana, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 7th minute, Daniel Zorita left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Javier Solana took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After taking down the ball on Ecuador's corner Daniel Zorita fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Javier Solana quite easily take care of the ball. Agustín Saelices recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 21 minutes into the match, JM Don Vidales 62's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Javier Solana reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 24 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Javier Solana. JM Don Vidales 62's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cristian Sancho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. If Luis Andino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 28th minute, Cristian Sancho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Javier Solana was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. In the 31st match minute, JM Don Vidales 62 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anselmo Blazquez to maneuver through the defense. Daniel Zorita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Javier Solana read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 31st minute of play. Prospero Fonticoba fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. In the 38th minute, Cristian Sancho left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-5. When Luis Andino came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luis Andino couldn't finish the play. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Javier Solana tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 45 minutes into the match, JM Don Vidales 62's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Javier Solana reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lalla Galnares was extremely unlucky when he, in the 46th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out.
In the 51st minute, Luis Andino got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Blai Aizpurua hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. With his leg Javier Solana managed to avoid a goal in the 61stth minute, when Ecuador's Daniel Zorita fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Javier Solana in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After having played for 70 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Javier Solana made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 73rd minute. After 74 minutes JM Don Vidales 62's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. The goalkeeper smacked the ball away after a great corner, but Luis Andino advanced and headed the ball into goal, 0-7 in the 74th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 80th minute of play forced JM Don Vidales 62's goalkeeper Javier Solana to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cristian Sancho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Daniel Zorita scored 0-8 in the 84th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Javier Solana, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 88 minutes into the match, JM Don Vidales 62's goal looked a bit too open when Luis Andino came free, but Javier Solana reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cristian Sancho's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 91stth minute, Javier Solana skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal.
