Aleksandr Sibirev made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 6th minute of play. 8 minutes into the match, Спартак's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Aleksandr Sibirev reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Спартак booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Camilo Gisbert didn't get a good kick on the ball. Aleksandr Sibirev made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 14th minute of play. Cristian Sancho scored 0-1 in the 14th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Aleksandr Sibirev, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Aleksandr Sibirev stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cristian Sancho's shot from short distance in the 17th minute. The corner led Спартак's Zinoviy Bronnikov to fire away a dangerous shot which Julio Vera despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Ecuador's Felix Montenegro suffered a concussion in the 20th minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. After 21 minutes, Gerasim Ovchinnikov mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Спартак and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. Ecuador made a substitution. Diego Mancebo replaced Felix Montenegro. When Clay Addison fell near the penalty area in the 25th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Спартак's protests and gave Clay Addison a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Спартак's Clay Addison got a free kick in the 25th minute. In the 29th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 34 minutes of play, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Aleksandr Sibirev was left in no man's land by his defense there! 39 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Aleksandr Sibirev made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. 44 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Aleksandr Sibirev. Спартак's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cristian Sancho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Daniel Zorita to strike the kick off in the second half. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Aleksandr Sibirev tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 65 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Aleksandr Sibirev. Спартак's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Daniel Zorita was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-5. Aleksandr Sibirev showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristian Sancho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Aleksandr Sibirev breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Aleksandr Sibirev made a fantastic save in the 73rd minute, when Luis Andino sent off a good shot on target. Primitivo Andino made in the 77th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Cristian Sancho however managed to control. With a little luck, Спартак's Aleksandr Sibirev got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 82nd match minute, Спартак was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Elizardo Corrales to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Sancho got free with Aleksandr Sibirev in the 83rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 84 minutes Спартак's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. Cristian Sancho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 86th minute of the match, but Aleksandr Sibirev made a huge save. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 87th minute after Спартак's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Aleksandr Sibirev in the 89th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 91st minute, Daniel Zorita fired a really elegant long shot, but Aleksandr Sibirev threw himself and managed to get hold of the ball just in front of the right post. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vitaliy Eliseev, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ecuador played a much better game than Спартак and deserved their victory. The Спартак players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
