Daniel Zorita started the match with the kick off. Gabriele Batistuta might have been able to make a better finish in the 4th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gabriele Batistuta ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 8th minute Gabriele Batistuta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cristian Sancho struck a weak shot in the 9th minute. Camilo Salvidor didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Gabriele Batistuta came free with the goalkeeper in the 13th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Julio Vera could save by the left post. 14 minutes into the game, Felix Montenegro cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Camilo Salvidor was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Menchu FC were awarded a corner in the 19th minute after Ecuador's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Lucas Martínez Quarta took the corner. At last the ball reached Peter Söderqwist at the corner, ending with a kick to difficult to stop for the goalkeeper of Ecuador. 1-1. Camilo Salvidor showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 22nd minute of the match. Gabriele Batistuta who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 24thth minute tested the skills of Julio Vera when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 27 minutes into the game, Gabriele Batistuta recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Julio Vera. Gabriele Batistuta showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-1. Camilo Salvidor showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 35th minute of the match. After 40 minutes, Gabriele Batistuta made it 3-1 with a short kick to the right side. Ecuador's Julio Vera tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. When Juan Sebastián Puig fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ecuador's protests and gave Juan Sebastián Puig a yellow card for diving instead. Juan Sebastián Puig kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. 47 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gabriele Batistuta. Caetano Linhares kicked well hit freekick during the 48th minute of the match. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gabriele Batistuta made a kick off. After 53 minutes of play, Menchu FC's Gabriele Batistuta made it 4-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! Camilo Salvidor made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 55th minute. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gabriele Batistuta in the 56th minute of the match. In the 59th minute, Gabriele Batistuta left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Menchu FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-1. When Primitivo Andino fell near the penalty area in the 63rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ecuador's protests and gave Primitivo Andino a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Menchu FC booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Primitivo Andino didn't get a good kick on the ball. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gabriele Batistuta in the 64th minute of play. Menchu FC's Primitivo Rocendo was substituted for Uriel Gorri. Menchu FC's Arturo Roderigo was substituted for Peter Söderqwist. If Gabriele Batistuta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 80 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Gabriele Batistuta came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 83rdth minute of the game Gabriele Batistuta who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Menchu FC's Camilo Salvidor played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 89th minute of play. In the 89th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Camilo Salvidor saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Menchu FC's Camilo Salvidor proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 91st minute of the match, managed to save Menchu FC from getting a goal against them. In the 92nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Menchu FC's Silverio Sergi was substituted for Armando Roland. Menchu FC were awarded a corner in the 96th minute after Ecuador's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Lucas Martínez Quarta took the corner. The Menchu FC support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
