Jonathan Ferrant was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 10 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Tomas Illescas. In the 11th minute David Brochu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Venezuela booed when AFC Richmond was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tomáš Petráček didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by David Brochu in the 21st minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 24 minutes into the game, Rigoberto Mina was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Venezuela's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave AFC Richmond the free kick. After 25 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Rigoberto Mina. AFC Richmond's David Brochu got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Emerson Whaley tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 32 minutes, Lawrence Hopson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. AFC Richmond's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lawrence Hopson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Carlos Jerardo got a throw-in 38 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Karol Dankowski. In the 39th minute David Brochu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 41 played minutes AFC Richmond got a freekick which was hit by René Moody. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lawrence Hopson in the 46th minute of play.

In the 52nd minute Patricio Costa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emerson Whaley saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when David Brochu got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant got control of the ball when David Brochu tried to sneak it across the goal line. Tomas Illescas might have been able to make a better finish in the 69th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Emerson Whaley. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tomas Illescas ran back to his position shaking his head. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from David Brochu in the 71st minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when David Brochu got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 72nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Patricio Costa hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. Irmantas Zenkevičius received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. David Brochu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 83 minutes into the game, David Brochu cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Jonathan Ferrant was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 90 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Jose Correa. In the 94th minute, AFC Richmond's David Brochu dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-4. When the final whistle sounded AFC Richmond left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Venezuela.
