An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 5th minute of play forced Aro FC's goalkeeper Harry Higuita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 14th minute, when Nate Drakenborg sent off a good shot on target. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Harry Higuita having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Aro FC's Nate Drakenborg got a free kick in the 24th minute. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sune Svartengren in the 29th minute of play. After 30 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Errikos Tsagaris who took care of the corner kick. Isac Muntian sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 34th minute of play forced Aro FC's goalkeeper Harry Higuita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Harry Higuita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 36th minute of the match. 39 minutes into the match, Isac Muntian dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Julio Vera, 1-1. Sven-Arne Berglund kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. 43 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Harry Higuita made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. After having played for 47 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Daniel Zorita made the kick off in the second half. After 52 minutes of play, Ecuador's Felix Montenegro made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Harry Higuita was left in no man's land by his defense there! 57 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Isac Muntian came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 72th minute after Aro FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. When the match clock showed 72 minutes, the score became 1-4 when Felix Montenegro sped through Aro FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Harry Higuita. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nate Drakenborg in the 77th minute of play. Julio Vera didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Nate Drakenborg went, in the 81st minute, to the upper right corner, 2-4 was the resulting score. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luis Andino in the 85th minute of play forced Aro FC's goalkeeper Harry Higuita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Aro FC's Sune Svartengren got a free kick in the 87th minute. Cristian Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 88th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Harry Higuita. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristian Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head. Sven-Arne Berglund hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
