Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jailson Sousa, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. In the 9th match minute, Apocalipse FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Celsinho Soares to maneuver through the defense. The audience cheered loudly when Axel Tasis's long shot in the 9th minute became 1-0 when the ball went to the left of and passed Gianluigi Buffon. In the 13th minute, Axel Tasis got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 19th minute, Marcos Rodrigues left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Apocalipse FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Lautaro Puig sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 27th minute, Marcos Rodrigues made a precise shot to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. 30 minutes into the game, Marcos Rodrigues cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-4. Benito Sanz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Lautaro Puig struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. Gianluigi Buffon didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Costa Rica. Benito Sanz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ruy Tinoco's shot from short distance in the 36th minute. After 37 minutes, Marcos Rodrigues made it 1-5 with a short kick to the right side. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Lautaro Puig fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gianluigi Buffon having to interfere. Jailson Sousa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half Apocalipse FC were leading 1-5. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

52 minutes into the match, Axel Tasis had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gianluigi Buffon. Apocalipse FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Axel Tasis was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-5. Marcos Rodrigues did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 2-6 to the left of a surprised Benito Sanz 58 minutes into the match. After 61 minutes, Lautaro Puig mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Costa Rica and the Apocalipse FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 61st minute, Lautaro Puig hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Axel Tasis in the 64th minute of play forced Apocalipse FC's goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Apocalipse FC's zone, Eliseo Noboa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gianluigi Buffon came out of the goal and Eliseo Noboa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 70th minute Marcos Rodrigues shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Apocalipse FC getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Tiago Gabriel Brodel hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcos Rodrigues in the 76th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 79 minutes into the match, Jailson Sousa dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Benito Sanz, 2-7. 82 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Marcos Rodrigues. Marcos Rodrigues had several of the Costa Rica's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 87 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 2-8 score and a disappointed Benito Sanz as he didn't even see the shot coming.
