The audience thought a goal was coming when Julian Murillo got free with Rubén Urruti in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Luz Tejedor received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Rubén Urruti came out and tried to block the shot, but Luz Tejedor slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 22nd minute. Julian Murillo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rubén Urruti read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 26th minute of play. Rubén Urruti showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luz Tejedor, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Rubén Urruti came out of the goal in the 29th minute to try and stop a shot by Peru's Luz Tejedor. But to his dismay, Luz Tejedor quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. After having played for 33 minutes, Julian Murillo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Peru's supporters crossed their fingers, but Julian Murillo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sitges's Rubén Urruti proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 35th minute of the match, managed to save Sitges from getting a goal against them. After having played for 38 minutes, Julian Murillo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mauricio Salazar in the 46th minute of play.

Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Charidimos Papandreou in the 50th minute of play. In the 54th minute Kevin Johnson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Noboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 59th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sitges's goalkeeper Rubén Urruti, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Zachariasz Ruszkowski's late challenge caught a Peru's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Henrik Suuroja during the 71st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Charidimos Papandreou spun around in front of the goal 95 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Peru's goal. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Peru fully deserved thier win.
