Theo Machado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. In the 13th minute, Daniel Zorita left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The audience was convinced that Jefferson de Amaral's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 67th minute of the game. 72 minutes into the match, Λstral Villains FC's goalkeeper Theo Machado had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. Ecuador were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
