Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mané Andrade having to interfere. After having played for 24 minutes, Xacintu Magadan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Maraponga FAC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Xacintu Magadan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mané Andrade showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luis Andino in the 31st minute of the match. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Primitivo Andino hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristian Sancho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mané Andrade breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Through an outstanding action, after 36 minutes, Julio Vera successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 45th minute, Xacintu Magadan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
