Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Severino Messias in the 14th minute of play. Severino Messias struck a weak shot in the 17th minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Kroton F.C.. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Alvaro Cirelli in the 22nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 23 minutes into the game, Severino Messias cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 32nd minute Veli Vefa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 36th minute, Ecuador's Luis Andino ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Alvaro Cirelli. Alvaro Cirelli yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Johannes Støle in the 43rd minute of play.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Kroton F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Alvaro Cirelli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 56th minute of play forced Kroton F.C.'s goalkeeper Alvaro Cirelli to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 67th minute Kroton F.C. were awarded a corner. Cristiano Chitarroni went to the cornerflag to take it. After taking down the ball on Kroton F.C.'s corner Cristiano Chitarroni fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Julio Vera quite easily take care of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 69th minute of play forced Kroton F.C.'s goalkeeper Alvaro Cirelli to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Severino Messias in the 70th minute of the match. In the 73rd minute Agustín Saelices shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alvaro Cirelli saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 74th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alvaro Cirelli saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 75th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Kroton F.C.'s goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Alvaro Cirelli took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Felix Montenegro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Julio Vera came out of the goal in the 93rd minute to try and stop a shot by Kroton F.C.'s Veli Vefa. But to his dismay, Veli Vefa quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. Ecuador were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
