Salvador Gisbert's late challenge caught a Nascente do Leça's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Salvador Gisbert helped the player get up and apologised. After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, Fábio Figueiras kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. Almiro Peixoto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Nascente do Leça booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alex Chicote didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fábio Figueiras's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. Fábio Figueiras blasted a shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jonathan Ferrant having to make a save. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fábio Figueiras, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Patricio Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Alex Chicote kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Tomas Illescas took the ball and in the 36 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Laureano Coelho. Laureano Coelho dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. After 39 played minutes Nascente do Leça got a freekick which was hit by Paulo Arruda. In the 41st minute, Paulo Arruda hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Duarte Macieira fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Nascente do Leça's protests and gave Duarte Macieira a yellow card for diving instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Fábio Figueiras made the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute Almiro Peixoto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fábio Figueiras, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Nascente do Leça's Laureano Coelho proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 61st minute of the match, managed to save Nascente do Leça from getting a goal against them. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fábio Figueiras in the 63rd minute of play. When the match had gone on for 64 minutes, Tomas Illescas took a quick shot and it went in 1-3 without a chance for Laureano Coelho to make any attempt to save it. Fábio Figueiras might have been able to make a better finish in the 70th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jonathan Ferrant. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Fábio Figueiras ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 76th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tomas Illescas to maneuver through the defense. In the 81st minute Fábio Figueiras shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nascente do Leça's Fábio Figueiras got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 86 minutes had been played when some careless play by Nascente do Leça's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Tomas Illescas was slow to take the kick. During this time Venezuela's players had a chance to rest. Venezuela's Salvador Gisbert got his second yellow card of the match in the 87th minute. The referee ordered Salvador Gisbert off the ground. In the 88th minute, Salvador Gisbert hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 92 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Jose Correa. 96 minutes into the match, Nascente do Leça's Paulo Arruda sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jonathan Ferrant narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The Venezuela supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Venezuela would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
