Luís Fábio Bezerra dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Jaime Pardo's late challenge caught a Phoenix Fc's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jaime Pardo helped the player get up and apologised. After 16 played minutes Paraguay got a freekick which was hit by Jaime Pardo. 20 minutes into the game, Ricardo Paraíba threw the ball into play from the sideline. Paraguay's Hector Covarrubias quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Phoenix Fc's Luís Fábio Bezerra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jaime Pardo in the 24th minute of play. Paraguay's Jacobo Nores played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adhemar Teles in the 26th minute of play. In the 28th minute Jaime Pardo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luís Fábio Bezerra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 29th minute Paraguay were awarded a corner. Jaime Pardo went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Jaime Pardo almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Phoenix Fc's Luís Fábio Bezerra did a great save. After 31 minutes, Afonsinho Costa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Phoenix Fc and the Paraguay players grew even worse after the yellow card. Afonsinho Costa hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Paraguay's Xavier Zoido got a free kick in the 35th minute. In the 35th minute of the match, Ronaldo Camargo tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Jacobo Nores saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 36th minute, Ronaldo Camargo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 40th minute Adhemar Teles shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacobo Nores saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 48th minute, Hector Covarrubias left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Paraguay fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2.

After a defensive mix-up in Phoenix Fc's zone, Hector Covarrubias stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luís Fábio Bezerra came out of the goal and Hector Covarrubias tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Hector Covarrubias recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Luís Fábio Bezerra made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when Hector Covarrubias sent off a good shot on target. Paraguay's Hector Covarrubias quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Ronaldo Camargo, made in the 71st minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adhemar Teles in the 75th minute of play forced Paraguay's goalkeeper Jacobo Nores to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 77 minutes into the game, Ronaldo Camargo threw the ball into play from the sideline. Paraguay's Alan Campos quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Hector Covarrubias received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Luís Fábio Bezerra tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luís Fábio Bezerra made an important save on a dangerous shot by Francisco Gaos in the 86th minute. 92 minutes into the game, Phoenix Fc's Haroldo Brito nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jacobo Nores made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. After a rather tough play, Phoenix Fc's Adhemar Teles got a free kick in the 96th minute.
