Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Jaime Pardo started the match with the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Phoenix Fc's zone, Jaime Pardo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luís Fábio Bezerra came out of the goal and Jaime Pardo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jaime Pardo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jaime Pardo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Luís Fábio Bezerra read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 11th minute of play. Jacobo Nores showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adhemar Teles, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. In the 29th minute Adhemar Teles shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacobo Nores saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 30 minutes into the match, Paraguay's goal looked a bit too open when Adhemar Teles came free, but Jacobo Nores reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Paraguay's zone, Adhemar Teles stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jacobo Nores came out of the goal and Adhemar Teles tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Primitivo Escribano struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Luís Fábio Bezerra didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Paraguay. In the 45th minute, Hector Covarrubias got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Adhemar Teles was the one to do the kick off. In the 59th minute, Adhemar Teles made a precise shot to the right of Jacobo Nores. Paraguay's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Phoenix Fc's defense didn't have a chance, in the 66th minute, when Hector Covarrubias scored to the left of an out of position Luís Fábio Bezerra, making the score, 1-1. Hector Covarrubias received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Luís Fábio Bezerra tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Hector Covarrubias managed to get in a good position for a shot. Paraguay's supporters rose to their feet, but Hector Covarrubias was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luís Fábio Bezerra breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Paraguay booed when Phoenix Fc was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adhemar Teles didn't get a good kick on the ball. Phoenix Fc's Luís Fábio Bezerra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jaime Pardo in the 74th minute of play. Paraguay's Hector Covarrubias quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Haroldo Brito, made in the 76th minute of the game. Adhemar Teles received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Jacobo Nores tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 82 minutes, Jaime Pardo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Paraguay's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jaime Pardo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 86 played minutes Phoenix Fc got a freekick which was hit by Alfredinho Nogueira. In the 87th minute of the match Jaime Pardo sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Luís Fábio Bezerra skillfully saved the ball. Jacobo Nores took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adhemar Teles, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jacobo Nores made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adhemar Teles in the 91st minute of play. If Jaime Pardo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Despite being the better team, Paraguay failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
