The ball went over the crossbar instead. 17 minutes into the match, Uruguay's goal looked a bit too open when Okanalp Özdil came free, but Joaquin Gayoso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Candelaria FC's Danilo Testa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Francisco Seco in the 22nd minute of play. Okanalp Özdil could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 23rd minute of the match, but Joaquin Gayoso made a huge save. Uruguay's defense didn't have a chance, in the 40th minute, when Okanalp Özdil scored to the left of an out of position Joaquin Gayoso, making the score, 4-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Okanalp Özdil in the 47th minute of play forced Uruguay's goalkeeper Joaquin Gayoso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Francisco Seco to strike the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Okanalp Özdil had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. Uruguay's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Okanalp Özdil was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. The supporters of Candelaria FC booed when Uruguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bruno Beldad didn't get a good kick on the ball. Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sven-Olof Sjöberg in the 70th minute of play. Joaquin Gayoso dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 6-0. Camilo Franco hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. Joaquin Gayoso didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Arnaldo Marquez went, in the 81st minute, to the upper right corner, 7-0 was the resulting score. The supporters of Uruguay booed when Candelaria FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bart Pellen didn't get a good kick on the ball.
