Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nickolai Nickerson in the 18th minute of play. After having played for 20 minutes, Nickolai Nickerson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Étoile Sportive Du Sahel's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nickolai Nickerson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Ecuador's Daniel Zorita in the 22nd minute got a chance for a shot 22nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Étoile Sportive Du Sahel's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. Luis Andino made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that Étoile Sportive Du Sahel's Eric Soned managed to reach the ball for a save. After 32 minutes, Luis Andino made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Étoile Sportive Du Sahel's Eric Soned tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Sancho got free with Eric Soned in the 54th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nickolai Nickerson in the 57th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eric Soned having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nickolai Nickerson in the 61st minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Étoile Sportive Du Sahel made a substitution. Valentin Elg replaced Radu Fetea. When Antonio Arias fell near the penalty area in the 69th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ecuador played a much better game than Étoile Sportive Du Sahel and deserved their victory. The Étoile Sportive Du Sahel players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
