Paraguay's attentive Juan Diego Tenorio managed to snatch the ball when João Balsemão made a throw-in in the 3rd minute of the game. Armindo Bettencourt was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Jaime Pardo showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 6 minute of play. Armindo Bettencourt made a fantastic save in the 11th minute, when Jaime Pardo sent off a good shot on target. With a little luck, Rua da Pinga's Armindo Bettencourt got control of the ball when Jaime Pardo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Hector Covarrubias received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Armindo Bettencourt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 16th minute, Jaime Pardo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Armindo Bettencourt was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. If Jaime Pardo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by João Balsemão in the 23rd minute of play forced Paraguay's goalkeeper Jacobo Nores to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jaime Pardo who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 26thth minute tested the skills of Armindo Bettencourt when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 27th minute, Paraguay's Jaime Pardo ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Armindo Bettencourt. Armindo Bettencourt yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-0. Jacobo Nores came out of the goal in the 30th minute to try and stop a shot by Rua da Pinga's Elias Quadros. But to his dismay, Elias Quadros quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. With a little luck, Rua da Pinga's Armindo Bettencourt got control of the ball when Jaime Pardo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Albérico Gouveia kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. Jaime Pardo took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 39th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Armindo Bettencourt. Rua da Pinga's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Rua da Pinga's defense didn't have a chance, in the 41st minute, when Jaime Pardo scored to the left of an out of position Armindo Bettencourt, making the score, 4-1. Armindo Bettencourt made a fantastic save in the 45th minute, when Jaime Pardo sent off a good shot on target. Armindo Bettencourt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jaime Pardo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Hector Covarrubias in the 54th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Armindo Bettencourt prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience was convinced that Jaime Pardo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Armindo Bettencourt was relentless in the 55th minute of the game. Jaime Pardo scored 5-2 in the 57th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Armindo Bettencourt, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 60 minutes into the game, Hector Covarrubias cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 6-2. Armindo Bettencourt was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Armindo Bettencourt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jaime Pardo, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. Hector Covarrubias took the ball and in the 69 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Armindo Bettencourt. Armindo Bettencourt dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 8-2. The Paraguay fans' excitement grew in the 73rd match minute when Paraguay's Jaime Pardo looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 9-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Armindo Bettencourt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jaime Pardo in the 76th minute of play. The supporters of Paraguay booed when Rua da Pinga was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joaquim Carvalhais didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 82nd minute, Hector Covarrubias ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Armindo Bettencourt was frozen by the shot and now it was 10-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jaime Pardo in the 88th minute of play forced Rua da Pinga's goalkeeper Armindo Bettencourt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Primitivo Escribano during the 89th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
