Felix Montenegro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Agustín Rossi having to interfere. Oliver Petersson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Oliver Petersson, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Oliver Petersson was the one to do the kick off. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After having played for 91 minutes, Luis Andino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luis Andino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Agustín Rossi made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 93rd minute. In the 95th minute Rebelution were awarded a corner. Americo Frascuelo went to the cornerflag to take it. Camilo Leocadio charged in rather forcefully in the 95th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Camilo Leocadio the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 96 played minutes Rebelution got a freekick which was hit by Camilo Leocadio. Ecuador played a much better game than Rebelution and deserved their victory. The Rebelution players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
