Isidoro Sarmiento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wellington Montenegro having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Tomas Berganza kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Wellington Montenegro. That made the score 1-0 in the 5 minute of play. Marcos Cotilla showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fausto Aguiar in the 10th minute of the match. A collision led to Joinville Esporte Clube getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Geovanni Leite hit a great ball. After 13 minutes, Benê de Azevedo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Joinville Esporte Clube and the Panama players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 14th minute, Benê de Azevedo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 14th minute Abraham Alguacil shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wellington Montenegro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 15 minutes, Célio Mangueira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Joinville Esporte Clube and the Panama players grew even worse after the yellow card. Marcos Cotilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Célio Mangueira in the 18th minute of play. A collision led to Panama getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Alex Cambeiro hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Célio Mangueira in the 25th minute of play forced Panama's goalkeeper Marcos Cotilla to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marcos Cotilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Célio Mangueira in the 35th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Abraham Alguacil got free with Wellington Montenegro in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 37th minute Isidoro Sarmiento shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wellington Montenegro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Isidoro Sarmiento managed to get in a good position for a shot. Panama's supporters rose to their feet, but Isidoro Sarmiento was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wellington Montenegro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Deivid Vaz came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Joinville Esporte Clube fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Deivid Vaz couldn't finish the play. When the match had gone on for 46 minutes, Tomas Berganza took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Wellington Montenegro to make any attempt to save it. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tomas Berganza to strike the kick off in the second half. Wellington Montenegro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Isidoro Sarmiento, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Wellington Montenegro didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Isidoro Sarmiento went, in the 57th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. Wellington Montenegro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Berganza, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. After a rather tough play, Panama's Isidoro Sarmiento got a free kick in the 72nd minute. Panama's Isidoro Sarmiento got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Wellington Montenegro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Isidoro Sarmiento, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 86 minutes into the match, Joinville Esporte Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Berganza came free, but Wellington Montenegro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Panama's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Abraham Alguacil in the 88th minute. 89 minutes had been played when some careless play by Joinville Esporte Clube's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Abraham Alguacil was slow to take the kick. During this time Panama's players had a chance to rest. Panama walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
