After a defensive mix-up in Honduras's zone, Amado Argi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lautaro Navarro came out of the goal and Amado Argi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Honduras getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Sebastian Villa hit a great ball. In the 14th minute Augusto Ipar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lautaro Navarro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 17th match minute, C A U was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Amado Argi to maneuver through the defense. After 19 minutes, Milagros Cabal mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Honduras and the C A U players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of C A U booed when Honduras was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Milagros Cabal didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Edmundo Espiga managed to get in a good position for a shot. Honduras's supporters rose to their feet, but Edmundo Espiga was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benito Lauro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edmundo Espiga in the 24th minute of play forced C A U's goalkeeper Benito Lauro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Benito Lauro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edmundo Espiga in the 39th minute of play. If Anibal Benino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Lautaro Navarro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Augusto Ipar in the 43rd minute of the match. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Edmundo Espiga to strike the kick off in the second half. C A U's defense didn't have a chance, in the 51st minute, when Christian Sancho scored to the left of an out of position Benito Lauro, making the score, 0-1. When Santiago Beremundo fell near the penalty area in the 55th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored C A U's protests and gave Santiago Beremundo a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to C A U getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Santiago Beremundo hit a great ball. Benito Lauro came out of the goal in the 60th minute to try and stop a shot by Honduras's Sebastian Villa. But to his dismay, Sebastian Villa quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. In the 62nd minute, Anibal Benino hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 64 minutes of play, Honduras's Christian Sancho made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Benito Lauro was left in no man's land by his defense there! Christian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Lauro having to interfere. A collision led to Honduras getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Sebastian Villa hit a great ball. Anibal Benino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Lautaro Navarro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 74 minutes into the match, C A U's goal looked a bit too open when Moises Tafalla came free, but Benito Lauro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Honduras's Christian Sancho managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Rick Harrison in the 77 minute of the game. The supporters of Honduras booed when C A U was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Augusto Ipar didn't get a good kick on the ball. Benito Lauro was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 83rd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Edmundo Espiga. 86 minutes into the game, Christian Sancho recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Benito Lauro. Christian Sancho showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-4. In the 90th match minute, C A U was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Placido Rozarius to maneuver through the defense. Benito Lauro was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 91st minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Edmundo Espiga. After having played for 96 minutes, Sebastian Villa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Honduras's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sebastian Villa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Honduras played a much better game than C A U and deserved their victory. The C A U players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
