The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Anfilogino Sasso took the kick off in the first half of the match. In the 3rd minute, Gheorghe Hagi left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC SOLOTHURN fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gheorghe Hagi in the 5th minute of play forced Barça's goalkeeper Edmund Makomaski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Edmund Makomaski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gheorghe Hagi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 10 played minutes Barça got a freekick which was hit by Vinicio Gregory. The FC SOLOTHURN fans' excitement grew in the 20th match minute when FC SOLOTHURN's Anfilogino Sasso looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. When FC SOLOTHURN's Anfilogino Sasso in the 23rd minute got a chance for a shot 23rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Aldo Paoletti fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tuncer Doğu having to interfere. Tuncer Doğu made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Rafal Jazowski sent off a good shot on target. Tuncer Doğu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rafal Jazowski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Jacob Madruga fell near the penalty area in the 33rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC SOLOTHURN's protests and gave Jacob Madruga a yellow card for diving instead. In the 33rd minute, Jacob Madruga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gheorghe Hagi in the 39th minute of play forced Barça's goalkeeper Edmund Makomaski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Edmund Makomaski came out of the goal in the 43rd minute to try and stop a shot by FC SOLOTHURN's Jacob Madruga. But to his dismay, Jacob Madruga quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-4. Disappointed in the 1-5 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Aldo Paoletti to make the kick off. Tuncer Doğu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rafal Jazowski in the 53rd minute of the match. Barça were awarded a corner in the 54th minute after FC SOLOTHURN's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Rafal Jazowski took the corner. Barça's attentive Zbigniew Pankiewicz managed to snatch the ball when Domenico Di Fiore made a throw-in in the 59th minute of the game. In the 60th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC SOLOTHURN's goalkeeper Tuncer Doğu, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Anfilogino Sasso could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 61st minute of the match, but Edmund Makomaski made a huge save. Edmund Makomaski showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jacob Madruga in the 63rd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anfilogino Sasso in the 65th minute of play forced Barça's goalkeeper Edmund Makomaski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Anfilogino Sasso had several of the Barça's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 65 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 2-6 score and a disappointed Edmund Makomaski as he didn't even see the shot coming. 72 minutes into the match, Barça's goalkeeper Edmund Makomaski had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gheorghe Hagi. 78 minutes into the match, Barça's goal looked a bit too open when Gheorghe Hagi came free, but Edmund Makomaski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tuncer Doğu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rafal Jazowski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to FC SOLOTHURN getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Domenico Di Fiore hit a great ball. Barça made a substitution. Olaf Grocholski replaced Zbigniew Pankiewicz. Barça's Krzysztof Gibowski was substituted for Rafal Jazowski. If Krzysztof Gibowski had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 97th minute Krzysztof Gibowski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tuncer Doğu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. FC SOLOTHURN's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
