With a left leg Edmund Makomaski saved Barça from getting behind. 15 minutes into the match, Vila Nova FC's goal looked a bit too open when Rafal Jazowski came free, but Fiori Mota reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cléber Basso in the 19th minute of play forced Barça's goalkeeper Edmund Makomaski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Leonardo Giroud hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. When Aldo Paoletti came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the Barça fans jumped to their feet.
