Felix Garrido didn't get a good kick on the ball. 13 minutes into the match, Chile's goal looked a bit too open when Martín Palermo came free, but Thiago Pliego reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Francisco Nesor took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mariano Lacasa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 17 minutes into the match, Mariano Lacasa notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Metal Juniors's Francisco Nesor. Francisco Nesor was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 28 minutes into the match, Metal Juniors's goal looked a bit too open when Mariano Lacasa came free, but Francisco Nesor reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Martín Palermo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Thiago Pliego read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 33rd minute of play. Orlando Casaus sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Martín Palermo in the 37th minute of play forced Chile's goalkeeper Thiago Pliego to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 39 minutes into the match, Chile's goal looked a bit too open when Martín Palermo came free, but Thiago Pliego reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 40th minute Metal Juniors were awarded a corner. Reinaldo Castro went to the cornerflag to take it. If Mariano Lacasa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Thiago Pliego showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Martín Palermo, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Mariano Lacasa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 58th minute of the match, but Francisco Nesor made a huge save. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Martín Palermo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Metal Juniors's supporters rose to their feet, but Martín Palermo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Thiago Pliego breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 62nd minute, Chile's Mariano Lacasa dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-2. Metal Juniors's Emilio Bibiano was substituted for Jonatan Dantae. Metal Juniors's Gaspar Gerazan was substituted for Gervasio Favila. Metal Juniors made a substitution. Sergio Dennis replaced Martín Palermo. Haroldo Phelipe charged in rather forcefully in the 69th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. In the 81st minute of the match Felix Garrido sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Francisco Nesor skillfully saved the ball. In the 82nd minute Mariano Lacasa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Francisco Nesor saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thiago Pliego showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sergio Dennis, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. After a rather tough play, Metal Juniors's Gaspar Gerazan got a free kick in the 86th minute.
