In the 10thth minute of the game Wilson Veiga who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Paraguay's Jacobo Nores was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 18 minutes into the match, Paraguay's goal looked a bit too open when Adalberto Passos came free, but Jacobo Nores reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The corner ended in Adalberto Passos almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Paraguay's Jacobo Nores did a great save. Ronaldo Barral made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hector Covarrubias in the 29th minute of play. A collision led to CORINTHIANS getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Pedrão Berger hit a great ball. Ronaldo Barral made a fantastic save in the 34th minute, when Jaime Pardo sent off a good shot on target. Jaime Pardo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Xavier Zoido's late challenge caught a CORINTHIANS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Xavier Zoido helped the player get up and apologised. Xavier Zoido hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. In the 44th match minute, Paraguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alan Campos to maneuver through the defense.

In the 52nd minute of the match, Wilson Veiga got a very nice opportunity to score, but Jacobo Nores was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. 59 minutes into the match, Jaime Pardo notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of CORINTHIANS's Ronaldo Barral. An unexpected shot in the 76th minute by Osmar Neiva got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Ronaldo Barral showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jaime Pardo in the 81st minute of the match. Caio Paiva fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jacobo Nores having to interfere. Paraguay's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
