An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 17th minute of play forced Sagarana Clube's goalkeeper Benedito Trigo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 18 minutes had been played when some careless play by Sagarana Clube's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. The corner led to Ecuador's Felix Montenegro getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. 21 minutes into the match, Sagarana Clube's goalkeeper Benedito Trigo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. After having played for 22 minutes, Benê Hoffmann managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sagarana Clube's supporters crossed their fingers, but Benê Hoffmann was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Sagarana Clube getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Benê Hoffmann hit a great ball. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 26th minute of the match, but Benedito Trigo made a huge save. Luis Andino could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match, but Benedito Trigo made a huge save. An unexpected shot in the 37th minute by Agustín Saelices got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Benedito Trigo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luis Andino in the 38th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Éder Madureira in the 45th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Fábio da Cunha kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

But to his dismay, Fábio da Cunha quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Camilo Gisbert hit a great ball. Sagarana Clube made a substitution. Fabrício de Alcântara replaced Zé Roberto da Costa. Sagarana Clube's Bruno Salles was substituted for Éder Madureira. Serafim Barros struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sagarana Clube. In the 79th minute, Beto Heidemann got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fábio da Cunha in the 84th minute. 94 minutes into the game, Fábio da Cunha was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sagarana Clube's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. Sagarana Clube's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
