After 14 played minutes Uruguay got a freekick which was hit by Francisco Seco. With a little luck, Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso got control of the ball when Anibal Egoi tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 18th minute of the match, Maracanã Travieso tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Joaquin Gayoso saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After a rather tough play, Uruguay's Maximiliano Escribano got a free kick in the 19th minute. 22 minutes into the match, La escuelita volvió!'s goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Gisbert came free, but Lukács Galambos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With his leg Joaquin Gayoso managed to avoid a goal in the 37thth minute, when La escuelita volvió!'s Maracanã Travieso fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the last second Joaquin Gayoso throw himself and got hold of the ball when Maracanã Travieso in the 42ndth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. Camilo Franco's late challenge caught a La escuelita volvió!'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Camilo Franco helped the player get up and apologised. In the 42nd minute, Camilo Franco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Maracanã Travieso to make the kick off. La escuelita volvió!'s Lukács Galambos proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 70th minute of the match, managed to save La escuelita volvió! from getting a goal against them. When the match had gone on for 72 minutes, Maracanã Travieso put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. After 84 played minutes Uruguay got a freekick which was hit by Alberto Gisbert. The La escuelita volvió! fans' excitement grew in the 85th match minute when La escuelita volvió!'s Maracanã Travieso looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Ubaldo Enekoitz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquin Gayoso having to interfere. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The La escuelita volvió! fans cheered their team off the field, for while Uruguay had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
