With a little luck, Mexico's Dante Lacasa got control of the ball when Sander Korsma tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 19 minutes Mexico's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Epifanio Demesio who took care of the corner kick. Antonio Vespucio Liberti's Epifanio Demesio was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Dante Lacasa in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 24th minute of play forced Antonio Vespucio Liberti's goalkeeper Elpidio Txomin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Elpidio Txomin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 28th minute of play. Mexico were awarded a corner in the 29th minute after Antonio Vespucio Liberti's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Joel Gaona took the corner. The supporters of Mexico booed when Antonio Vespucio Liberti was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Celestino Salamon didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Lautaro Mancebo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gualterio Faron stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Through an outstanding action, after 51 minutes, Elpidio Txomin successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 54th minute the ball was on its way in behind Antonio Vespucio Liberti's goalkeeper Elpidio Txomin, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Lautaro Mancebo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Antonio Vespucio Liberti's Elpidio Txomin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 61st minute of play. Rafael Quinten hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. A hard shot by Joel Gaona from long distance, 67 minutes into the match, got Elpidio Txomin's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Elpidio Txomin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 73rd minute of play. 75 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Gualterio Faron came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Elpidio Txomin made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lautaro Mancebo in the 76th minute. 78 minutes into the match, Joel Gaona had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Elpidio Txomin. Antonio Vespucio Liberti's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Joel Gaona was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. If Luca Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 82 played minutes Antonio Vespucio Liberti got a freekick which was hit by Rafael Quinten. In the 85th minute, Leonardo Leoz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lautaro Mancebo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 94 played minutes Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Leonardo Leoz. Mexico's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
