The referee ignored Venezuela's protests and gave Guillermo Mariano a yellow card for diving instead. Academia B.F.'s Michel Totti was substituted for Zachary Mentus. In the 41st minute the ball was on its way in behind Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Primo Sans couldn't finish the play. In the 89th minute, Lauro Quirino hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Primo Sans's shot straight on target was not completely harmless.
