Colombia's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. A sloppy throw-in by Ovidio Marko in the 13th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Colombia's Kevin Mastache. Pedro Manzanares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Laércio Penha in the 14th minute of the match. Zézinho Veloso recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Abram Sarmiento scored 1-1 in the 28th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Mickaël Maris, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Laércio Penha could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 31st minute of the match, but Pedro Manzanares made a huge save. With 33 minutes on the clock, Manfredo Vale commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. Manfredo Vale kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. A collision led to Nova Iguaçu MZFC getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Manfredo Vale hit a great ball. Axel Montenegro blasted a shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Mickaël Maris having to make a save. In the 37thth minute of the game Zézinho Veloso who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Colombia's Pedro Manzanares was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Mickaël Maris took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abram Sarmiento, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Axel Montenegro might have been able to make a better finish in the 40th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mickaël Maris. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Axel Montenegro ran back to his position shaking his head. Mickaël Maris showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Axel Montenegro in the 40th minute of the match. Mickaël Maris showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kevin Mastache, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. 42 minutes into the match, Kevin Mastache notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Mickaël Maris. Mickaël Maris was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a defensive mix-up in Colombia's zone, Laércio Penha stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pedro Manzanares came out of the goal and Laércio Penha tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Colombia's Pascual Carballar got a free kick in the 47th minute. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Abram Sarmiento made the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Nova Iguaçu MZFC getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Caco Matos hit a great ball. After 60 played minutes Nova Iguaçu MZFC got a freekick which was hit by Ödön Zsinka. If Laércio Penha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Abram Sarmiento got free with Mickaël Maris in the 67th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, Laércio Penha managed to get in a good position for a shot. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Laércio Penha was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pedro Manzanares breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Colombia made a substitution. Abram Secada replaced Axel Montenegro. 73 minutes into the match, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Laércio Penha sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Pedro Manzanares narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Luiz Fábio de Medeiros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Pedro Manzanares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 78th minute, Laércio Penha left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Nova Iguaçu MZFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Laércio Penha in the 85th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Pedro Manzanares saved Colombia from getting behind. 87 minutes into the match, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's goal looked a bit too open when Ignacio Mastache came free, but Mickaël Maris reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ignacio Mastache in the 88th minute of play forced Nova Iguaçu MZFC's goalkeeper Mickaël Maris to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Laércio Penha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Laércio Penha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Pedro Manzanares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 97 minutes into the match, Nova Iguaçu MZFC's goal looked a bit too open when Ignacio Mastache came free, but Mickaël Maris reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nova Iguaçu MZFC were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Colombia to leave the ground with a draw.
