Aldo Felipo's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Aldo Felipo helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Lengua de Lobo's Aldo Felipo got a free kick in the 8th minute. Edgardo Patxi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Edgardo Patxi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 12th minute of play. Julio Vera had great luck who in the 28thth minute grab hold of the ball when Pelayo Silva from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. When Agustín Saelices came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Agustín Saelices couldn't finish the play. In the 36th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edgardo Patxi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edgardo Patxi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 38th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Lengua de Lobo's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edgardo Patxi came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 46th minute of play forced Lengua de Lobo's goalkeeper Edgardo Patxi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Edgardo Patxi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Edgardo Patxi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luis Andino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Aldo Felipo in the 62nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. In the 64th minute Agustín Saelices shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edgardo Patxi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 65 minutes had been played when some careless play by Lengua de Lobo's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. Severino Azibar kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. Edgardo Patxi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 76 played minutes Lengua de Lobo got a freekick which was hit by Severino Azibar. Lengua de Lobo made a substitution. Blas Herauso replaced Rosendo Tono. A collision led to Lengua de Lobo getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Severino Azibar hit a great ball. In the 79th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Ecuador's Daniel Zorita to fire away a dangerous shot which Edgardo Patxi despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edgardo Patxi having to interfere. Agustín Saelices hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. Felix Montes kicked well hit freekick during the 92nd minute of the match. Many of Ecuador's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Ecuador may have spent more time on the ball, but Lengua de Lobo were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
