Mario Umbruso took the ball and in the 25 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Joaquin Gayoso. Joaquin Gayoso dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-4. Francisco Seco scored 1-5 in the 29th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Andres Leheren, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 33rd minute, Francisco Seco left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Uruguay fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-6. Ryszard Michna's late challenge caught a Uruguay's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ryszard Michna helped the player get up and apologised. The audience was convinced that Francisco Seco's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Andres Leheren was relentless in the 41st minute of the game. Esteban Macario got a throw-in 94 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Edgardo Gervaso. Uruguay's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
