Programayin's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Felix Montenegro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Agustín Saelices took the ball and in the 20 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Hans-Jürgen Pötscher. Hans-Jürgen Pötscher dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Hans-Jürgen Pötscher showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Agustín Saelices in the 37th minute of the match. Hans-Jürgen Pötscher showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luli Lulić in the 43rd minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Daniel Zorita in the 45th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hans-Jürgen Pötscher saved Programayin from getting behind. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Luli Lulić to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 51st match minute, Programayin was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luli Lulić to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Programayin was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dadá Rossi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claude Pradias in the 76th minute of play. 80 minutes into the match, Programayin's Claude Pradias sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Claude Pradias might have been able to make a better finish in the 83rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Claude Pradias ran back to his position shaking his head. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Claude Pradias, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Claude Pradias in the 85th minute of the match. Julio Vera didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Claude Pradias went, in the 87th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-3 was the resulting score. The supporters of Programayin booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Primitivo Andino didn't get a good kick on the ball. Aresti Temporal hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match. Programayin succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Ecuador had controlled the match.
