After having played for 47 minutes, Edmundo Espiga managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Honduras's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edmundo Espiga was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Edmundo Espiga stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Edmundo Espiga's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gianluigi Donnarumma was relentless in the 51st minute of the game. Marcelino Formerio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Lautaro Navarro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Edmundo Espiga struck a weak shot in the 79th minute. Gianluigi Donnarumma didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Honduras. After 85 played minutes Honduras got a freekick which was hit by Valentín Carvallo. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Honduras's much stronger midfield.
