Peru were awarded a corner in the 10th minute after PHOENIX SC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Luz Tejedor took the corner. Peru's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Through an outstanding action, after 56 minutes, Ray Clemence successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Ray Clemence took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julian Murillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 63rd minute, Peru's Julian Murillo dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-2. 68 minutes had been played when some careless play by Peru's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Phoenix Kante was slow to take the kick. During this time PHOENIX SC's players had a chance to rest. 69 minutes into the game, Luz Tejedor was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Peru's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave PHOENIX SC the free kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Julian Murillo got free with Ray Clemence in the 80th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 85 minutes into the match, PHOENIX SC's goal looked a bit too open when Eliseo Mina came free, but Ray Clemence reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. PHOENIX SC's Ray Clemence played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 89th minute of play.
