Peru's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Luz Tejedor in the 18th minute. Peru's Emmanuel Reyes was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Zacarias Sesimbra in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. A sloppy throw-in by Afonso Quadros in the 25th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Peru's Anthony Alvarado. Rolando Noboa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pedro Pauleta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Peru booed when Dragonf⮊rcE was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Afonso Quadros didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Herman Dresselbjerg in the 52nd minute of play.
