Edmundo Gomes was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. After having played for 6 minutes, Abraham Alguacil managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Panama's supporters crossed their fingers, but Abraham Alguacil was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Proteu's Edmundo Gomes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Berganza in the 7th minute of play. 12 minutes into the match, Proteu's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Berganza came free, but Edmundo Gomes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tomas Berganza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 16th minute, Antônio Brito hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Abraham Alguacil had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Tomas Berganza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Miguel Miralles sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a defensive mix-up in Proteu's zone, Tomas Berganza stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edmundo Gomes came out of the goal and Tomas Berganza tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 30th minute, Isidoro Sarmiento left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Panama fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Tomas Berganza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edmundo Gomes having to interfere. The Panama fans' excitement grew in the 36th match minute when Panama's Tomas Berganza looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. When the match clock showed 39 minutes, the score became 0-4 when Tomas Berganza sped through Proteu's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Edmundo Gomes. Edmundo Gomes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomas Berganza in the 43rd minute of the match. 45 minutes into the match, Tomas Berganza had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Edmundo Gomes. Proteu's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tomas Berganza was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-5. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-5 lead.

Proteu's Edmundo Gomes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Berganza in the 54th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 55 minutes, Miguel Miralles took a quick shot and it went in 0-6 without a chance for Edmundo Gomes to make any attempt to save it. Edmundo Gomes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Berganza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Edmundo Gomes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tomas Berganza's shot from short distance in the 59th minute. Tomas Berganza was extremely unlucky when he, in the 63rd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Abraham Alguacil blasted a shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Edmundo Gomes having to make a save. Rodriguinho Ramos charged in rather forcefully in the 64th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rodriguinho Ramos the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 64 minutes into the game, one of Proteu:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tomas Berganza in the 67th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Edmundo Gomes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 0-7 became the score in the 68th minute when Tomas Berganza elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 73 minutes, Tomas Berganza took a quick shot and it went in 0-8 without a chance for Edmundo Gomes to make any attempt to save it. Edmundo Gomes was a little too slow when Tomas Berganza got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 76th minute. The score was now 0-9. If Tomas Berganza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tomas Berganza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edmundo Gomes having to interfere. Edmundo Gomes was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Tomas Berganza showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-10 in the 87 minute of play. When the match had gone on for 94 minutes, Tomas Berganza put it in 0-11 from a short distance just to the right of Edmundo Gomes. When the final whistle sounded Panama left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Proteu.
