Evelio Antoniano was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Alberto Tafalla took the ball and in the 30 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Evelio Antoniano. Evelio Antoniano dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Paulo Laurentzi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dante Lacasa having to interfere. If Joel Gaona had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Mexico booed when Criciúma Esporte Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vasile Curagãu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Paulo Laurentzi might have been able to make a better finish in the 41st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dante Lacasa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Paulo Laurentzi ran back to his position shaking his head. Bieito Villaurreta could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 46th minute of the match, but Dante Lacasa made a huge save. Macos Graciani hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Bieito Villaurreta made the kick off in the second half. After 53 played minutes Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Lorenzo Cazalla. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paulo Laurentzi in the 54th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 56 minutes, Joel Gaona managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mexico's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joel Gaona was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gaztea Regalado in the 60th minute of the match. A collision led to Mexico getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Luca Rouco hit a great ball. After 67 played minutes Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Macos Graciani. Evelio Antoniano made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lautaro Mancebo in the 70th minute. Alberto Tafalla recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Joel Gaona took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 74th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Evelio Antoniano. Criciúma Esporte Clube's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Evelio Antoniano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luca Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 92 played minutes Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Alberto Tafalla. Facundo Cadaval hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. Mexico played a much better game than Criciúma Esporte Clube and deserved their victory. The Criciúma Esporte Clube players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
