Hilario Carro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Patricio Costa in the 6th minute of the match. In the 7th minute, Tomas Illescas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 10 minutes had been played when some careless play by Lake Junaluska FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Tomas Illescas was slow to take the kick. During this time Venezuela's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Tomas Illescas almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Lake Junaluska FC's Hilario Carro did a great save. Jonathon Frost received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Patricio Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hilario Carro having to interfere. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jose Correa kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. Jonathon Frost took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 30th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Keenan Blake in the 31st minute of play. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Darron Messer in the 33rd minute of the match. Tomas Illescas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 39th minute of the match, but Hilario Carro made a huge save. Venezuela were awarded a corner in the 40th minute after Lake Junaluska FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Tomas Illescas took the corner. A well-hit corner resulted in Salvador Gisbert heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Tomas Illescas made the kick off in the second half. Tomas Illescas might have been able to make a better finish in the 53rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hilario Carro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tomas Illescas ran back to his position shaking his head. 55 minutes into the match, Tomas Illescas had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Hilario Carro. Lake Junaluska FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tomas Illescas was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. 58 minutes into the match, Venezuela's Patricio Costa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Hilario Carro narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Venezuela's Tomas Illescas in the 62nd minute got a chance for a shot 62nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tomas Illescas in the 77th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hilario Carro saved Lake Junaluska FC from getting behind. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Lake Junaluska FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vince Mabry didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lake Junaluska FC played a much better game than Venezuela and deserved their victory. The Venezuela players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
